Cheer Ball Pictures - The End

One of the seniors had the picture party for Cheer Ball. They have a huge, open, well-lit house which was great!

Almost all the varsity cheerleaders - there are 20 but only 14 made the pictures.

Cheer Ball Pictures

Meg's friends Abbie & Jessica came over to get ready and take some group photos at our house. The dance is called "Cheer Ball" cause it is a fundraiser for Blue Valley North's Dance team. They only invite area high school cheerleaders and drill team/dancers. It's kind of a novelty cause not everyone at the high school gets to go. The boys love being asked to this dance cause Megan said it's the best one of the year. It also isn't as formal so no corsages, etc.

How Quickly They Grow....

Megan had Cheer Ball on Saturday night. She invited her friend Alex to go with her. You may remember Alex, he went to the Valentines Dance with Megan Freshman year. Look at how much these two have changed!!

I was shocked at the difference when I looked back at the Freshman year pictures. They look 5 years older rather than 2 years!

Final Football Post

Club football is over for Ryan and that means it is over for Bruce too. Time to hang up the coach's whistle. I think they are both ready for the move to high school football.

The last post-game huddle:

Ryan was proud of all the stickers on his helmet. Coaches give stickers for good plays but Ryan also got 10 for being on straight A honor roll. That helped fill up his helmet. He also put all the stickers on only one side.

Dad (coach) and son (player) with one last picture at the Heritage Park football fields. I'm going to miss our weekend games out there. It's a festive atmosphere. Ryan plans to referee football when he's 16 so I'll have to go watch him officiate a few games.

It's been a good run but I'm always sad when something ends...even if it ends with an undefeated season. Good times!

Last Football Game - Coin Toss

Ryan's football team was big on displays of unity, etc. The coach had the team line up behind the captains during the last game's coin toss. It may be hard to tell but they have their arms linked. This was probably to intimidate the other team a little too. We had already played and beat that time once before.
Ryan is #52 on the right side of the picture. He's not the smallest kid on the team but he's definitely not the biggest. He's standing next to Aaron (#58) who is the biggest at 6 ft 1 in and 240 lbs. Aaron has 100 lbs on Ryan and you can tell by this picture. Aaron moved here from Mississippi and we were happy to welcome him to our team!

It's amazing how boys grow at different speeds in jr. high. I'm lucky moms from the team take pictures and share them with me! This one was from Brendan's mom.

Undefeated!!!

Ryan is number 52 in the back row.

The final score was 56 to 14 not 8 to 0. The FCCJC official put 8 to 0 on the scoreboard to reflect our team's undefeated season. It's been a fun ride. The boys have won the last 3 games in convincing style with the games basically over after the first quarter.

We were ahead Saturday by 40 points at the half so it was a running clock the second half. Bruce is a little disappointed his defense didn't get the shut-out. The coaches did a good job of letting the boys play different positions during the second half which gave the other team a few touchdowns.
