Homecoming 2010 Part 2

Pictures for a dance can be kind of chaotic - especially if there are lots of couples in a group. This was a big group - 10 couples = 20 kids to fit into a photo.

But first everyone runs around and gets pictures with their friends.

Here's Meg & Elise. Elise is a junior too but didn't come to our house to get ready. Elise dates our old neighbor Grant (for those of you who remember him).

Meg & Emily - Emily is the other cheer captain. She's a senior and was a Homecoming candidate.

Megan went to the dance with Joe Reid. Joe is a junior too and a friend of Megan's.

Joe's older brother Jake is a senior and he went to the dance with Megan's friend Haley. Below are the brothers with the girls.
Ryan was a hostage with us at pictures since we were going to Mikiah's birthday party afterwards. The girls pulled him into a couple of pictures.

Here's some pictures of this massive group. 10 kids would be better than 10 couples. It should be easy to find Megan & her date - they are in the middle.
Boys only...

Girls only...

Girls silly photo...

One dance down...three more to go!

Homecoming Part 1

Megan's Homecoming was Saturday night. The weather was great which means outside pictures.
Here's the special picture with Dad.
Her friends came over to get ready at our house.
They all seems to be growing up really fast compared to when they were over as Freshmen!
Jessica, Abbie, Megan, Haley, & Sarah close-up (missing was Kayla)

And the usual pose on the deck stairs; notice the cast on Abbie's foot. She broke her ankle in a gymnastics meet.
Obligatory silly photo - I think they are cats this time.
Sorry - you'll have to turn your head for the next 2 photos. I can't figure out how to turn them.

Megan & I went on a 7 hour dress shopping marathon 2 weeks ago. We found this dress on the clearance rack for 70% off. It's the best $30 dress I've ever seen!! We also found her dress for the Valentine's Dance & Prom so we are set for the year.
We liked the back of the dress. Amy Mleynek did a beautiful updo for Megan's hair so the whole back was visible. Thanks again Amy! Our afternoon updos with you has become a fun tradition!!
Next post will have pictures with Megan's date and the group of 20 that went to dinner together.

Final Day of Fun - Labor Day Weekend

We extended the holiday weekend into Tuesday. Brent & Amy's flight was late in the day on Tuesday so we went to DeAnna Rose Farmstead in the morning.

Derek & Cooper joined us while Amy & Miles recovered from their weekend!! Mom & Dad enjoyed hanging out with the little kids.

Cooper & Derek enjoyed the fishing pond. Look how wonderfully patient Cooper is just sitting there waiting for a bite...

...okay, even a perfect toddler like Cooper has a limit on being patient. I think he's lending some encouragement to Derek!

Cooper found this saddle in the barn where they milk the cow.

He traded it later for a real horse. His first pony ride :)

Good job Cooper! So brave! You are supposed to be 3 but he's close enough :)
Zella got to meet Cooper's horse. I think his name was Darby.
Yep - that's his eye.
Zella liked the toy tractor track -- Can I get a push???
Yep - Daddy to the rescue!
Derek gave Cooper a push too :)

It was a fun weekend! Thanks for following along on the blog. More blogs to come - I promise. Sorry for the long delay in posting.
We have Homecoming & Ryan's football season coming up soon!

More Labor Day Pics

I may have missed my chance for a picture with Miles but Megan did take one with Zella & me. Seems like you don't get in photos when you're the one behind the camera. We enjoyed spending time with Brent, Amy, & Zella since it had been a long time since we've seen them. I think it was Zella's 1st birthday, right? She's 1 1/2 now & a real cutie! "Why do you keep taking my picture Aunt Brenda?" Cause you're so darn cute Zella!!

Yoh-yoh Auntie B - Knock off the photogs!! (Zella's version of gangster talk)
Megan did get a photo with Zella even though she had to work a bunch during the weekend. Cute blondies!!
Ryan's attempt at holding Zella for a picture. Looks like Zella is saying "Next! Please!"
Poor Zella had a little cold during the visit but she was a real trooper & luckily felt better before the flight home.
Are there more pics you ask? Yep - one more set!

Labor Day Weekend - Part 3

Derek & Amy provided extra fun on Labor Day Weekend by brining Miles into the family. Thanks guys!! Good timing too since he was born on Saturday, Sept. 4th - Mom's birthday :)
Proud great-grandparents with the newest member of the family

Zella will have a new baby brother or sister soon. She was really excited to hold Miles. Just a few more weeks Zella and you'll have a new baby living with you!

Miles is a good sport and the sweetest little baby. He just slept through all of us passing him around. Not a peep out of him! Here he is with Bruce:
Ryan got to hold him too. Megan was at work and didn't meet Miles on this day. And, I just realized as I'm posting this - I didn't get a picture holding Miles. Darn! I'll have to fix that. I did get to hold him though. So precious!!
Zella warmed up to Ryan after a couple of days. I'm sure she wondered where in the world all these big kids came from! She was sitting on him before I snapped this pic.
Cooper & Zella having a snack. I'm sure there are lots of fun years of playing ahead for these two! 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 are a big difference now but won't be by next year.

The pictures continue - check back tomorrow....

Labor Day Weekend Party - Part 2

It was great to have the whole family together again. That hadn't happened since Dad's 70th birthday party. We need to make this an annual event!!

Our fall birthdays - next year we'll be adding Miles to this picture. Yea!!

Happy 50th Birthday Deb!! You turning 50 makes me dread it less :)

It warms my heart to see kids use our toy set. Megan & Ryan are just too big to use it anymore. Zella and Cooper played on it during the weekend. Zella loved the swing.

Her eyes are saying "weeee...."

....this is fun...
...can a little kid get a push here.
Yea! Big cousins to the rescue!
We ate a lot!! But the best part was the homeade ice cream. How many guys does it take to make ice cream? The answer is these 4!
Actually...it's only 1. Art was the mastermind behind the ice cream & the other guys just did what he said - haha! I know Bruce learned a lot and the ice cream turned out perfect :)

Are there more Labor Day pics? I'm glad you asked - why yes there is, keep checking our blog :)

Finally....Labor Day Blogs!!!

First of all, Bruce & I are thrilled everyone was together for Labor Day weekend this year. Ya'all come back anytime!! It was so much fun with celebrating Deb's 50th birthday & Mom and Miles' birthdays. Mom's got a few years on Miles but they'll be sharing birthdays for many, many years!!

(Warning - these pics are not in order. I should fix this but have to do this quick since I have a work deadline today & am procrastinating on it!!)

We started the weekend early with a visit from Mallory & Mom and Dad on Friday. Megan had a pep rally at the high school so they all came with us.

Cousins! You girls actually look alike. Megan is more blonde now so they would look even more similar. She was thrilled Mal came to watch the pep rally.

Mom & Dad attended the pep rally & the football game that night too. They are troopers cause our football team isn't doing too good this year. They enjoy watching Megan cheer.
Bruce's brother Dick was generous and sent his Chiefs tickets to us for a Thursday night game. Mom & Dad came into town early to go with us. Dick has great seats - right next to the Chiefs' sideline. It was fun & has spoiled us for any other tickets in the stadium.
Eveyone says Ryan looks like me but he definitely has some of his dad's mannerisms. I don't remember the play they are watching on the jumbo tron but they are reacting exactly the same!
They now have a horse ride around the field - cool but surprising re: turf damage.

Mom & I enjoyed watching this boy in the yellow jacket during the game. The poor kid had to stand with his back to the field the whole time. His expression never changed. I did catch him with a little smile once on a Chiefs' touchdown. That's a long time to stand - even for a security guard.

The Chiefs not only have a horse - they have a drum corps. It was cool. My favorite pastime during the games is watching the news crews on the Chiefs' sidelines. Oh yeah - and the game!
Always up for a new adventure - this was Mom's first trip to Arrowhead for a game. She thought it was fun. Using Dick's tickets does make it a more enjoyable experience. It's like a circus with stuff going on all the time while a game is being played.

More Labor Day Weekend pics to come....
